After the death of his father, Tanjirou Kamado becomes the sole provider for his family, living a humble life on a remote mountain. One day, he travels to the village to sell charcoal, but is forced to take shelter with a stranger who warns him about flesh-eating demons that roam the woods at night. When Tanjirou returns home, he finds his family slaughtered, with his sister Nezuko the only survivor—transformed into a demon. Consumed by grief and rage, Tanjirou vows to avenge his family and protect Nezuko’s humanity, joining the Demon Slayer Corps to hunt down the demons responsible.
