Ichigo Kurosaki is an ordinary high schooler until his family is attacked by a Hollow, a malevolent spirit. He meets Soul Reaper Rukia Kuchiki, who, after protecting Ichigo, is unable to regain her powers. To save his family, Ichigo takes her powers and becomes a Soul Reaper. Tasked with hunting down Hollows, Ichigo is joined by his friends—Orihime Inoue, Yasutora Sado, and Uryuu Ishida—who possess unique abilities. Together, they confront the dangers of the spirit world, learning that the Hollows are only the beginning of a much larger, more dangerous threat to the human world.
